About me
Heidi Rustgaard(Co artistic director of h2dance/choreographer/ designer/performer)
Heidi came studied dance at The London Studio Centre in 1992- 95. Since 1999, Heidi has co directed h2dance and created work as a choreographer and designer and performer of their productions. H2dance has created a body of touring work which includes the acclaimed "To Die For" (2007) which is currently touring, "På Gränsen" (2005) a new work for the Opera in Karlstad, Sweden, "Silent Movie" (2004) "Faked" (2003),"Butterfly Belly" (2002) and "Ostrich" (2000). Heidi recently delivered a commission for the BIGdance Festival with performances at the Victoria&Albert Museum and the Natural History Museum in London. In 2004 h2dance collaborated with Donald Hutera on "Choreographus Interruptus", commissioned by Guardians of Doubt.
As a performer Heidi has worked for companies like Duckie, Clod Ensemble, Ursula Martinez, seven sisters group, Colin Pool, Silence Crossing, Rorschach Collective and Sirens Crossing.
The summer of 2007, Heidi was resident artist for one month at Taipei Artist Village in Taiwan undertaking research for To Die For with four local dancers. She has for the last years been researching and developing the installation/performance project Dirty Little Minds together with visual artist Ellie Howitt.
In October 2004 Heidi won the Shrinking Cities competition (German Federal Cultural Foundation and Archplus) in Germany with the project Cow - the udder way in collaboration with Ulrike Steven (artist/architect) Gareth Morris (architect) Susanne Thomas (choreographer) Eike Sindlinger (architect) and Paul Cotter (film maker). The work was shown at DAZ (The German Architectural Centre), Leipzig Gallery of Contemporary Arts, autumn 2005 and is currently on tour.
In 2002 Heidi created a solo performance Patience that later was reworked for the camera in collaboration with film-maker Benedict Johnson.
Heidi has choreographed for students at Dartington College of Arts, London Studio Centre and Manchester Metropolitan University. Heidi is currently choreographing on the degree students at London Metropolitan University in London and will in July 2009 premiere a full evening production with the graduating students at The Circus Space in London.
She is teaching regularly in both the UK and in Scandinavia at places like Laban, The Place, Millennium Dance 2000, Gallery 37, Independent Dance, Greenwich Dance Agency and Youth Dance England in the UK, Dans i Väst, Sweden and Gratis Daglig Trening in Norway. She is currently teaching creative movement at The Circus Space (BA course) and contact improvisation at London Studio Centre (BA course) in London.
